Congratulations to our Ironman Texas Athletes!!

TriPsyclones members with Mike Riley

On Saturday, May 21, 2200 athletes from around the country headed to the start line at the Inaugural Ironman Texas Triathlon.  This 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run took place in The Woodlands.  32 TriPsyclone members were there when the gun went off for the competition.  Many trained for up to 6 months for this race, some longer.  Team mates were on hand throughout the course supporting, cheering on and encouraging racers to the finish line.  The heat, humidity and hills go the better of some races and for that, this IM has been ranked as the “5th Toughest IM” in the world.

Says Patty Godfrey “It was a tough day out there.  But with the support of fellow racers, team mates cheering me on, and my family, it was an amazing feeling crossing the finish line and hearing Mike Reilly say “Patty Godfrey, you are an Ironman”.  It was an awesome feeling and I am so proud of everyone out there.”

Welcome to the 2011 Season!!
The Tripsyclones organizing committee is busy working on the plans for the new triathlon season - be sure to check back here for more news...

Folks are already starting to plan their 2011 race season - some of the local events are listed above and more events will be posted as dates are announced.  Register with the club now and you'll get more information about kick-off events sent directly to registered members by e-mail.

...One of the highlights of the Spring will be the inaugural Ironman Texas, being held in the Woodlands on May 21st.  If you are just getting started, this is a great opportunity to volunteer and cheer on our ~20 or so team-mates who will be competing.  At the same time, you'll get a chance to see the world-class athletes who you see in the pages of the magazines.  What other sport provides that all at the same event!?

Time to Hit the Road

The weather is fabulous right now for cycling and running - are you getting out there? Folk are also at Lake 288 getting some swims in!

Many of our team members will be training for MS150, not only to raise money to support a great cause, but the event provides a great training opportunity.   When you are out on the roads, please remember to share the road with other motorists, cyclists and vehicles.  Ride single file and show the same courtesy you would want shared back to you.  There are plenty of cyclists out there who give us a bad name - let's not be among them.

Stay safe on the roads!
